»Poster Campaign – WEAR IT WITH PRIDE

by Art Director Hannes, Ciatti

This poster campaign is part of the Wear it with Pride campaign – a national education campaign for the recent 85 same-sex law reforms in Australia. To give each poster an individual story and character I briefed typographers from all over the world. When you see these posters together they form the rainbow and with that the LGBT community.

»Twenty One By Jack Douglas

This show is about coming-of-age in a society that’s not quite right. Graduating from art school and being forced to face the real world, dealing with drug use, alcoholism and petty violence. “I seek to escape my own personal dilemmas through the image-making process.” Feeling the urge to draw attention to the degradations in standards of living, the everyday Australian’s general contempt for each other and fearing things that are different. These “low life’s” each bear their own interesting stories, it is through his art that Jack attempts to portray them as a means for public discourse. Drawing on several influences (including pop surrealism, tattoo art, skateboard graphics, psychedelic music posters etc.), Jack has created a body of work that will act as a single piece of art through the process of installation that will hopefully make people stop and think about what is wrong with the world we live in.”

After much dedication to producing work only in the digital setting he has now come full circle, removing himself from the wired world, picking up the paintbrush creating art of his own.”

“Drawing from the traditions of film noir, the familiar scene becomes the unfamiliar. Suburbia, seen from the car window, what we see everyday passes through our awareness, becoming swiftly invisible and unnoticed. Yet glimpses of these shadowed corners can spark the imagination for a fleeting moment, causing the birth of a brief fable, shortly lived, yet lingering.”

I am a photo artist based in Canberra. I draw my inspiration from the landscape and explore the emotional boundaries of our imagination and the spaces around us.

»Indigenous Language Map

This is very interesting, and great to see an overview of exactly how many different indigenous languages there are in Australia. This indiginous language map was created by David R Horton and can be found over on the abc website. Originally created by AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies)

Found via the twitter feed of dotcommob, a charity helping to introduce technology into remote aboriginal communities.
They also need a graphic designer to help out with a bit of work, so get involved if you are interested.
