Similar to google maps, but instead of using satellite images, Nearmap uses images shot from planes flying at 7000ft. This results in incredibly high resolution images. Cities are also mapped every month, with the ability to view the history of a location over time, by accessing the historical shots.
Borne from a frustrated graphic designer, writer (& seeker of everyday hope) in Sydney, the publication, ‘Spoonful’ is a new little morsel of happiness to change our perspective a little.
It is a short and inspiring little publication which, in light of our insanely busy lives and increasing ‘oh no, I must find time to read x’ can be finished by the end of a train ride, & leave you uplifted & smiling.

696 has some Exciting… and Sad news. On Dec 13th they close the doors for the year and it will be for the last time. “The last 3 years have been so exciting and such a wonderful experience, but, as all good things must come to an end… the same applies for us.”
As much as Toby & Melika will be not found at 696 Sydney Rd anymore… you can’t get rid of them that easily, as they are not closing without good reason. Over the last couple years they have come to realise their strengths and weakness’… and where their passion lies… And that is with the artist. So it is with much excitement they announce…
“We are starting an Artist Representation Agency.” This is a really exciting evolution for the girls, and to show how happy they are they’re having a party! For those of you still in shock “I Can’t Believe it’s not 696!” is the opportunity to go and say goodbye to a venue that holds so many memories for us all. So make sure you head down on Saturday the 12th of Dec from 6-10pm for body painted models, live music and of course art from some of your favorite 696 artists!

“On Hunting” is a radio documentary on buffalo hunting in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The oft forgotten medium of radio is once again being embraced by creatives, including Sydney resident John Connell.
“On Hunting” is a meditative journey through bush, swamp and ethics. The feature has won a number of awards and has aired on Irish and Australian radio.

The design embraces ecological sustainability by “upcycling” urban salvaged timbers of Camphor Laurel (an asian exotic yet scented ‘weed’ species in Australia), or indigenous Sydney Blue Gum and Blackbutt Eucalypt trees that fall or are demolished in the Sydney City region. The handcrafted pieces are cleanly finished raw with a flat natural look of china-oil, or may be polished to order with an water-based lacquer
