Alterations, Disturbances and Rips – The cut-up aesthetic, the chopping up of found imagery and the reshuffling of the fragments, invests new meaning in familiar imagery. Themes of anarchy, instability and heterogeneity emerge as everyday images are deconstructed and reassembled.

Sampling and tapping into the ubiquitous scraps of modern life the exhibition suggests an investigation around the Collage medium and the various techniques employed by the 5 participating artists.

Featuring artists KAREEM RIZK, MAURO PALMIERI, JOEL LAMBETH, DANILO BRANDAO and HILARY FAYE.

The new music video for ‘Against The Grain’ from emerging Melbourne indie-folk artist Hudson sees him collaborate with film maker/animator/VJ Dropbear (aka Jonathan Chong), producing a vibrant and colourful clip based around a mainstay from our humble artistic efforts throughout childhood – coloured pencils.

“You need to take the time to watch this beautiful video of ‘Meggs’ who went up to the Endeavor Snowboards’ design office in Vancouver last month to paint some custom installations, including the largest wall mural he has ever done!

Meggs offers up insights into the art scene and his inspirations… it’s really great. Enjoy!”

“This is a small and fast (for me) painting, measuring at 37 * 58 cm. It doesn’t have the detail of my large paintings due to it’s size, but I think the brushwork at the micro level is perhaps some of the best I’ve done.

It is also one of the last cosmonaut paintings I’m planning on producing (there’s one or two more in the pipeline), although future work should be evolution of those themes, rather than a radical departure.”

I drove around Australia a few years ago in a campervan, was an unreal experience, and seeing these photos I am thinking caravan is the way to go.
