Street artist and Illustrator Creepy

October 2008: If you live in Perth, chances are you have either seen or heard of Creepy’s work, if you haven’t..let us introduce you…

Hi Creepy. What have you been up to lately?
I went to New York recently, which was great, did some street work and walked around looking up all day, super cool place.
Project wise – the condor tower carpark has kept me busy. Upcoming shows, Silver Artrage group show at PICA on the 17th Oct, Candy Cult at the breadbox on the 18th and an all Perth show on at Wasteland on
the 22nd November all of which should be great.

How would you describe your own work?
I have strong themes of good vs evil. life and death. Contrasting ideas. The environment, my view of the everyday. Folk art.

Where do you find inspiration?
Travel. But when I’m at home, I like to ride my bike around, get some fresh air, see what’s going on in the real world. Coffee. I base most of my work on observing things that I find interesting, I guess concepts and ideas filter through my brain and come out slightly more surreal.

How is the Perth street art scene?
It’s small, but I like the idea of quality rather than quantity…There are some amazing artists in or from
Perth – it’s always growing and changing which I think is positive.

Do you have a favourite artist, or artists?
Richard Colman won the vote for September, I don’t know who will win October yet…

How has the area where you lived influenced your work?
I guess long hot summers trapped in the perth hills helped me learn to draw…right now though there are heaps of weirdos in perth to reference…haha…

  7. Awsome mate IIlove your work. I am an artist myself (Markaveli). Maybe one day a co-lab is to happen who knows. I am friends with the boys from juicebox and have seen your work at a few of their functions. Keep it up.
