THE EDGE Design and Innovation Showcase and Design Competition Awards – Sydney’s premier event for new and emerging designers – gave four awards to young designers in the categories Student, Commercial, Concept and Green.

THE EDGE featured 50+ new and emerging designers from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand, showcasing their products to an audience of design professionals, manufacturers, interior designers, buyers and the media.

The winner in the category Student is Rowan Turnham from TAFE Melbourne with his Short Black Connection Coffee Table made from recycled Australian Blackwood. The Commercial and Concept award went to talented designer Paphop Wongpanich who convinced the jury with his Star Table and 1974 Chair. The winner in the category Green is Stuart Faulkner with his Felix Stool, which flat-packs and is designed around sustainable design principles.

The winning products will be on display at the Australian International Furniture Fair, Sydney Exhibition Centre Darling Harbour, Centre of Hall 4, until Friday, 5 February 2010.
