Suit Up – All Australian – Group Show
Kate McInnes (LoungeKat) and Sean Kelly (Bucket’o'Thought) present – Suit Up!
Witness a spectacle of playing card finesse in a show like no other!
Featuring 19 Australian artists from Street Art, Comic, and Illustration backgrounds, the Suit Up art exhibition was formed as a collaboration in the true sense of the word and hits No Vacancy gallery in Melbourne on 13th February 2009.
Four artists worked together to create a theme for each suit and bring stylistic cohesion to the deck as a whole. That said, each artwork is lavishly detailed, unique and stunning in its own right – playing cards have never looked so good!
Featured artists are:
SPADES: Kid Zoom, Simon Childerhouse, TwoOne, Itch
HEARTS: Dylan McCrae, Karl Kwasny, Sam McKenzie,
Sheldon Vella
DIAMONDS: Reka, Phibs, Meggs, Sync
CLUBS: Yok, Noir, Drew, Claudio Mantuano
JOKERS: Sean Kelly, LoungeKat
With the stylings of Nate Holmes-Trapnell.
The show also features a number of first-time exhibitors which is a huge excitement for all involved. The exhibition will not only feature the playing decks but also limited edition, framed archival prints, signed by the artists.
The walls of the gallery will be adorned with interpretations of the of the playing card theme by street artist involved in the show.
Opening night will feature the opportunity to meet the artists and a rolling game of poker will be taking place.
Beez Neez beer, and Perrier water will be served and the room will be filled with the musical stylings of DJ Doppelganga.
