I wonder if the inclusion of an artistique portrait of an aboriginal child is as much of a national/historical cliché for Australia as one of, say, a Mountie in red serge or an inukshuk would be here.
Also note: Even Australian aboriginals have more than one ethnic type, so why is the iconography dominated by this ethnic type? I may be sensitive to this because it is no big deal in Canada to find blond-haired métis, for example, so this sort of thing looks like stereotyping two ways.
